Trout fishing
The brown trout is a native of European waters, owing to its popularity with anglers it has been introduced in many countries in both northern and southern hemispheres. In Sikkim trout was introduced in late 1950s and has now become extensively distributed in most of the streams, rivers and lakes. It seems possible that all present day trout are descendants of migratory species that originally inhabited the Arctic waters, various groups having been isolated from time to time by changes in the terrain resulting from the movement of the glaciers during the ice ages. Whatever the reason ,Salmo trutta is a species highly variable in the superficial appearance the colouring and to some extent the shape differs according to habitat.
