Since very little of the rural countryside has been introduced to both the domestic and foreign tourists. With a view to promote the village-based tourism in Sikkim, some villages have been selected for home-stay or farm-stay packages in view of their cultural importance, geographical location and historical background. 

The concept is to offer potential visitor to stay in the home of a villager, so that they can experience the traditional way of life of rural Sikkim. The tour generally starts from Gangtok, with stays at villages of Martam, Yangyang, Rabangla, Tinkitam, Kewzing and Barphung. (Details)
