Our staff share a concern over the environment impacts of
mountain tourism - and we endeavor in promoting quality
responsible tourism. Our concern for the environment stems
from the fact that we live here among the mountains and our
livelihood depends on the balance of the delicate ecosystem
which the Himalaya hosts. We use only LPG gas and kerosene
burning stoves for cooking. Our meals are designed to favour
local foods thereby considerably minimizing packaging wastes
and fuel consumption. All non-biodegradable garbage is carried
out and disposed off in a responsible & environmental friendly
manner. Also, the welfare of our porters & staff is also given
due concern. We have set strict and comprehensive guidelines
for ourselves regarding Eco-tourism practices in our
operations.
Experience: We are the first local tour operator
to initialize the Green Lake Trekking in North Sikkim in
1993 and also totally supervised the Japanese Twin
Peak Expedition-1993 from Green Lake. We are also the
first River Rafting & Kayaking Operator in River Teesta
and River Rongit since 1992.
Tashila Tours & Travels is registered with the
Government of Sikkim and recognised by the Sikkim Tourism. The
Head of the Agency, Mr. Tashi Tshering Lepcha, is one of the
pioneer tour operator to establish an adventure travel house
at Gangtok during the year 1990. Tashila Tours & Travels is
the founder member as well as former Advisor of Travel
Agents Association of Sikkim (TAAS) and founder vice
president of Sikkim Association of Adventure Tour Operators
(SAATO) and associated with Travel Agents Association
of India (TAAI).
